A Movie Moment: The sparkling cinematic jewel Maria Felix starring as the beautiful Señorita Beatriz Peñafiel in ‘Enamorada’ (1946)
‘During the revolution, the Zapatista troops of General José Juan Reyes take the quiet, conservative town of Cholula. As they take money from the rich, General Reyes falls for the beautiful, rich and indomitable Señorita Beatriz Peñafiel, daughter of the most remarkable man of Cholula.
Beatriz’s initial disdain towards the General eventually gives way to curiosity and finally to a deep and genuine love.’This movie has passion and melodrama tinged with comedy - with a semblance of Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ - making it one of my favorites.
